My passion for supporting kids began at age 17 when I started my diploma in Early Childhood Education. Since then, my path has taken me through a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master of Science in Teaching, a Master’s of Clinical Psychology in Education (with a concentration in Spirituality Mind Body Practice) from Columbia University, and most recently, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Beyond degrees and credentials, what really matters is this: I truly care about children’s well-being.
My practice is heart-centered, where children are provided with a space to feel safe, seen, and supported — just as they are. Whether they’re struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief, or navigating big life transitions, this is a place where they can play, express themselves freely, build trust, and grow.
I use a playful, creative, and developmentally attuned approach that helps children feel at ease. Whether it’s through art, Lego, social stories, sensory materials, or a game of checkers, I invite kids to explore and express their feelings in ways that feel natural and engaging. I’m always open to incorporating your child’s interests — even if they would like to teach me something new!
I integrate parts work, helping children build self-awareness by getting to know different parts of themselves. I use play-based approaches to help children express emotions, process experiences, and explore their inner world in a safe and developmentally appropriate way. My work is strengths-based and trauma-informed, and I prioritize building a safe, respectful relationship with each child. That relationship becomes the foundation for everything we do together.
My background as a certified elementary teacher means I understand how children learn and process information. I draw on Universal Design for Learning principles and integrate visuals, psychoeducation, and multiple intelligences into therapy. I am also highly trained in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), having completed a year-long practicum under one of the founders of CASEL — the leading organization in SEL research and implementation. This foundation allows me to support emotional growth in developmentally appropriate ways.
By blending educational insight with therapeutic techniques, sessions become not just insightful, but also empowering and engaging for young minds. Above all, I hold space with warmth, curiosity, and care — honoring each child and meeting them exactly where they are.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step — for both children and their parents. My goal is to make the process feel easy-going, supportive, and collaborative from the very beginning.
I invite parents or caregivers to attend the intake session with their child. This is a time for us to get to know one another and begin to understand your child’s story. We’ll talk about your child’s history — including medical, developmental, family, and school background — as well as any current challenges or concerns. Children are welcome to bring something comforting along with them to sessions, such as a toy, a favorite stuffy, or something to color with.
If you prefer to speak privately without your child present, I offer the option of scheduling a full or half-session to hear your concerns. We’ll also go over important counselling and psychotherapy policies, and I’ll walk you through the consent forms to ensure everything is clear.
After the intake session, I typically work one-on-one with children. This one-on-one time helps build trust, safety, and connection — which are essential components for meaningful therapeutic work. In these early sessions, I focus on building rapport and creating a space where your child feels seen, heard, and accepted as they are.
Regular weekly or bi-weekly sessions offer the best opportunity for progress, and as your child begins to feel more regulated and supported, we can begin to space out appointments based on their needs.
Building a trusting relationship is essential for effective therapy. Just like with adults, I hold your child’s confidentiality with great care. Knowing they have a private space helps children build trust and explore their feelings. I explain to each child, in age-appropriate language, that what they share with me is confidential, meaning I won't share it with others without their permission. However, there are limits to confidentiality, which will be clearly explained during the intake session.
I understand the importance of keeping you informed about your child's progress. I am happy to offer parent consultation sessions where we can discuss general themes, strategies to support your child at home, and address questions that you may have. I can also share ideas or strategies via email if preferred. This collaborative approach helps reinforce the therapeutic work and supports your child's growth and well-being.
